Our admissions process is fashioned to provide you with sufficient information about Austin Montessori School's programs and to provide us with sufficient information about your family to ensure that the school's educational program is the optimal learning environment for your child. Here is the process:

Procedure:

1. School Showings: Attend a school showing at either the north or south campus. It is not necessary to go to both campuses. To sign-up for a school showing please call 892-0253 extension 20. Space is limited, so reservations are required. School Showings are held every six weeks from September through May.

2. Classroom Observations: Schedule an observation by calling 892-0253, ext. 20. You must attend a School Showing before scheduling an observation.
    
3. Fees: Submit an admissions application with a one-time non-refundable application fee of $100.  You do not need to wait until after you have attended a school showing or observation to submit an application. You may do so at any time.
    
4. Waiting List: Your child will be placed on our active waiting list and you will be notified by mail or phone if we are able to place your child.

a) Children are selected from the waiting list according to the needs of the individual classroom communities. We strive for communities that reflect balance and diversity in socio-economics, race, ethnicity, age, and gender. The child highest on the waiting list whose admission would help create that balance will be invited in to the community first.

b) If we are unable to find a place for your child, we will send you a postcard in the spring, asking if you would like to remain on the waiting list or withdraw. Return the card, indicating agreement to remain on the waiting list or preference to withdraw from the waiting list. It is possible that your child may be accepted later in the spring or even over the summer if a place becomes available. 
 

5. While your child is on the Waiting List, you will be invited to attend a series of Parent Education classes designed to introduce families to Montessori principles, practical applications and the particular culture that is Austin Montessori School. Attending these classes will greatly increase your child’s chances of placement.
