Silent Journey and Discovery

Have you ever wished you could experience a Montessori classroom the way your child does? Most of us did not attend Montessori school as children, and although we may read books written by Maria Montessori, attend parent gatherings and observe the classroom, all of which are extremely beneficial, the Silent Journey and Discovery offers a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves into the Montessori classroom environment in the way our children do.

On Friday night, November 9th, the Silent Journey, participants will walk through the Parent-Infant Community, Youngest Children’s Community, Children’s House, Early Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Adolescent Community environments. Materials will be laid out as they would be during the children's work, and participants will notice which materials call out to them. With the absence of children, the classrooms are the focus, and the experience is of the authentic Montessori prepared environment and how they engage the senses.

On Saturday, November 10th, the Discovery, participants retrace their steps of the previous evening, but this time Guides will be on hand to give lessons. Participants will have the opportunity to work with the materials of their choice.  The day ends with a discussion as we share our experience of the day and the new insights into the Montessori experience that it has brought.
